Who We Are

Rockingham County Department of Fire and Rescue has a Free Smoke Detector program. This program is supported by local civic groups and fire associations within the county and has been in place for over twenty years.

If you are in need of a detector, just fill out the Application for Free Smoke Detector.  Once we receive your application, you will receive a phone call from your local fire department.  They will come to your home to install the detector at a time that is convenient to you.

If you have any further questions you can contact the Rockingham County Fire and Rescue office at 540-564-3175 or send an email to kwill@rockinghamcountyva.gov.

You can also watch the instructional video on the website for tips on how to install and maintain smoke detectors in your home, as well as how to create an emergency plan in case of a fire.
