Home Repair Grants and Loans

The Emergency Home Repair Program offers assistance with emergency repairs under the Owner-Occupied Rehabilitation Program (emergency assistance and exterior home rehabilitation) and Manufactured (Mobile) Home Rehabilitation Program. An emergency repair is defined as "any physical improvement, adaptation or modification, which is not of a cosmetic nature and is required to remove imminent health and safety hazards."   It also covers necessary modifications to allow a physically disabled resident to remain in the dwelling.



Some eligible repairs are replacement or repair of heating system; air conditioning in summer (letter from physician stating air conditioning is medically required), septic system defects, life threatening electrical hazards, roofs (if danger of collapse), water heater, handicapped improvements (evaluated on case by case basis) and sewer leaks or damage to sewer lines.
