Who We Are

Adult Protective Services - 703-228-1700 - The goal of this State-mandated program is to prevent or stop abuse, neglect, or exploitation of individuals who are unable to protect themselves. Social workers investigate reports of abuse, neglect, or exploitation and initiate protective services.

Protective Services to adults consist of the receipt and prompt investigation of reports of suspected abuse, neglect, and exploitation. They include assessing, documenting and identifying the adult's service needs, and providing case management services.

Adults receiving protective services may live in their own homes; live with relatives; or reside in nursing homes, assisted living facilities, hospitals or group home facilities.

To make a report after-hours, call the State Hotline at 1-888-832-3858.
