Who We Are

Federal USDA Rural Development's purpose is to improve the quality of life for rural Americans. Rural housing repair and rehabilitation loans are funded directly by the Government. Loans are available to very low-income rural residents who own and occupy a dwelling in need of repairs. Funds are available for repairs to improve or modernize a home, or to remove health and safety hazards. The loan is a 1% loan that may be repaid over a 20-year period.

Homeowner must be unable to obtain affordable credit elsewhere; income restrictions; must be a safety and sanitary reason for the repair. Grants, not loans, are only available to homeowners who are 62 years old or older and cannot repay a Section 504 loan.

Loans up to $20,000 and grants up to $7,500 are available. Loan period is 20 years at interest rate of 1%.
