Who We Are
Alexandria Department of Community and Human Services provides emergency housing and food to battered women at a confidential location for Alexandria women and their children who have been abused or who are threatened with abuse. Childcare during meetings, counseling for teens, outreach in jails and prisons, emergency alarms, counseling for batterers, emergency cell phones, and outreach in schools are also available through the shelter.
The shelter has a maximum stay of 28 days.
Emergency shelter for your family pet may also be available through a partnership with the Alexandria Animal Welfare League.
