Who We Are
The Collins Center and Child Advocacy Center periodically offers support groups for adult women affected by sexual violence. These groups are facilitated or co-facilitated by a mental health counselor and Collins Center staff members. They normally run weekly for eight or nine weeks, depending on the needs of the group. The first three weeks the group will be open to new members and then it will close. Additional free and confidential services include:
- Accompaniment to hospital,
- Basic information and advocacy for victims of child abuse or sexual violence,
- Accompaniment to an attorney's office,
- Accompaniment to law enforcement interviews,
- Accompaniment to court appearances,
- Information and referral,
- Identifing goals upon entering the legal system,
- Assist in assessing one's readiness to navigate the legal system,
- Preparing for the court experience,
- Preparing for potential outcomes of criminal proceedings,
- Identifying safety plans if needed,
