Who We Are

If you have been the victim of a crime, you may suffer from physical, emotional and/or financial difficulties long after the crime itself occurred. You need not deal with these problems alone; the Victim Advocate Program will try to help you and your family to cope with the impact of the crime. This program, operated by the Office of the Commonwealth's Attorney, seeks fair and compassionate treatment to all victims.
The legal process, sometimes long and complicated, may fail to address the needs of victims, but the Victim Advocate is available to help address these needs.

Contact the Victim Advocate in the Commonwealth's Attorney's Office if:

  • You have questions about your role as a witness.
  • You need someone to talk to your employer so that you can appear in court without loss of wages.
  • You cannot find someone to care for your children while you are in court and need a referral for childcare.
  • Your personal property is being held as evidence and you want to know when you can recover it.
  • You want assistance in preparing a Victim Impact Statement.
  • You would like an explanation of court procedures or a tour of the courtroom before you testify.
  • You need a referral to social service agencies that provide emergency financial, medical or psychological assistance to crime victims
  • You are not receiving restitution payments that were ordered by the court.
  • You need to notify us of a change of address or telephone number.
  • You have any questions in regard to your case.
