Crime Prevention & Education Program, TRIAD

Virginia Beach Police Department participates in TRIAD by implementing activities to reduce the level of criminal victimization as it impacts senior citizens.

The Virginia Beach TRIAD consists of the Sheriff, the Chief of Police, and AARP representative, as well as senior and retired volunteers who have made a commitment to work together to reduce criminal victimization of senior citizens.

The Virginia Beach TRIAD Council, known as S.A.L.T. (Seniors and Law Enforcement Together), meets monthly in support of the TRIAD to develop, expand and implement effective crime prevention and education programs for older Virginians. TRIAD works to improve the quality of life for seniors by providing an active exchange of information between local law enforcement and seniors.

Meetings are held the 3rd Saturday of every month at Marian Manor, beginning at 10AM; Marion Manor is located at 5345 Marian Lane (757-456-5018).

Application for the Virginia Beach Senior Citizens' Policy Academy provide an opportunity for senior citizens who work and live in the City of Virginia Beach to become familiar with the day to day operations of the Police Department.  Academy class include history of law enforcement, forensics, basic criminal law, mounted patrol, K-9 demonstration, senior safety, and more.  Call 757.385.1006 for more information.
