Who We Are
The Hampton University Proton Therapy Institute (HUPTI) is the 8th proton facility in the U.S. and the largest of its kind in the world. Proton therapy is regarded as the most precise form of cancer treatment to date, targeting the tumor while sparing surrounding healthy tissue. The 98,000-square-foot cancer treatment center is a state-of-the-art research and training facility as the first proton center in the nation to provide proton-specific medical career training at a variety of levels from radiation therapist to MD/PhD.
HUPTI plans to treat 2,000 patients per year with prostate, breast, lung, pediatric, and other cancers, destroying tumors with millimeter accuracy. The procedures are non-invasive, healthy tissue is spared, and there are minimal to no side effects.
