Good News Jail and Prison Ministry provides full-time Chaplains as Pastoral Care Givers to local correctional facilities, ministering to inmates, staff members, and family members. Contact the Senior Chaplain, David Abernathy at 434-799-5130 or email him at david.abernathy@goodnewsjail.org, if you are interested in volunteering. Services include:
- Encouraging and counseling inmates, staff, and officers
- Establishing, coordinating, and overseeing programs of evangelism and discipleship
- Recruit, train, and supervise volunteers
- Perform ministerial functions when appropriate (weddings, funerals, etc.)
- Serve as a liaison and facilitator between the pastoral community and the institution
