Independent Living for Seniors and People with Disabilities, Winter Hill Apartments

Winter Hill Apartments offer affordable housing to eligible seniors and people with disabilities. Government subsidized.  Within walking distance to post office, pharmacies, public library, banks, shops. The two apartment buildings offer handicapped-accessible laundry facilities, on-site parking, a senior center and on-site nutrition and activity programs.   Utility costs are included in the rent. 

Apartments include updated kitchens and bathrooms, frost-free refrigerators, garbage disposals, individually controlled heating and air-conditioning, hot water heaters, thermal windows, and smoke detectors. Many apartments have back porches and balconies. Five units are accessible to the handicapped. 

• The larger site, at James Street and West Annandale Road, includes six buildings with 50 apartments, 48 of which are one-bedroom units; two of which are two-bedroom units. One-bedroom units, @550 square feet, are located on the first and second floors of each building. Each apartment has its own front entry door. Second-floor apartments accessed by a wooden staircase. Two-bedroom units, @1,040 square feet, are located on the basement level of two buildings. 
• The smaller site includes two buildings that face one another across South Virginia Avenue. These buildings contain 16 one-bedroom units, also @550 square feet with identical layouts.
