Headaches After Traumatic Brain Injury

TBI Factsheet

According to the Model Systems Knowledge Translation Center (MSKTC) factsheet on Headaches After Traumatic Brain Injury, headache is one of the most common symptoms after a traumatic brain injury (TBI) and headaches can continue long after someone has gone through rehabilitation and recovery. The factsheet describes the different kinds of headaches someone with a TBI might experience and what might trigger a headache or migraine, such as medication, stress, or caffeine.

This information is also available in graphic form in MSKTC's TBI and Headaches Infocomic. The comic includes a headache diary a person can use to help identify triggers and find solutions to manage the pain. This information may be helpful to anyone who experiences migraines or headaches, not just TBI survivors.
